Okay I started getting packet losses two months ago, which is like a freaking cancer. I did everything from switching coax, hard wiring modem to pc, new ethernet cords, even buying a new modem and sending cox the one they rented me out (new modem is cox compatible Netgear Nighthawk c7000). spoke to probably more than 20 techs online who by the way all did the same thing, reset my modem and cleared the cache. I had two techs come out to look at my house and one changed the lines, which did absolutely nothing, probably made it worst. The next one came and connected my modem into his little device and he said that everything was good, and he left. Now i look like the boy who cried wolf, but i know for *** sure i'm not the only one having this stupid problem. It seems to always happen more at night than in the morning, network congestion or what? Why is there no cure to this cancer yet, seriously... what do we have to do, EVEN if i get another tech sent out to my house what will they do? look at the modem and say its good? they have no idea how to approach this situation.
I have the ultimate package w/ the unlimited data plan bringing me the max amount of $ i could pay for internet with cox, I for *** sure know i'm getting ripped off, I'm probably better plugging my computer directly into a potato.
Packet losses ranging from 10%-60% all night long, jittery gameplay, unable to live stream AT ALL
download speeds are reading as it should, normally 200-300 mpbs... but upload, oh yes upload speeds are a whopping Less than 1mpbs...(paying for 30mbps btw) every night, tried every speed test site i could find, the meter stick doesn't even move, looks like its trying to go backwards if anything.
I hate this city for only having cox as the main isp that offer high speeds lol. god this ** so bad, vent over. solution you wont find, i just wanted to complain and get this off my chest since cox doesn't do anything with reimbursing me from all this stress and frustration.
Unplugging modem for 10 seconds and plugging it back in now for the 42,371,284th time...

I am in Arizona and this has been an issue for 4 weeks straight every night. Like clock work at 5:00 PM the packet loss and signal strength drop instantly. Remains that way until 11:00 PM. They post a service outage every single day on the website for those hours. Yesterday was the first time in 4 weeks that COX did not post a service outage but the problem remained. I am on my second tech run today and have gotten nothing but garbage support from cox from day 1. Verizon is running fiber optics in 2019 to valley. We will be freed of the burden of Cox communication very soon.

I'm having the same problem in San Diego. Each night fortnite starts with 10-40% packet loss. All day 0% packet loss. I'm gong to contact Cox to see if they can fix it.

Hi everyone, we believe the issue impacting Fortnite should now be resolved. Please let us know if you continue to have issues during peak hours.

Hello and I'm from Oceanside, San Diego. Approximately 5 days ago, I started experiencing extreme packet loss and constant ping/lag spikes in Fortnite(it feels like we are playing on a major delay) that appears throughout the day but is gets worse during peak hours (5pm - thoughout the night). I switched to Gigablast months ago and have been playing Fortnite on both my PC's flawlessly without any issues until about a couple days ago. My speeds are perfectly fine, I'm getting around 400mpbs download and 100mbps upload yet when I'm in-game, I'm getting major packet loss and ping spikes making the game unplayable. Here's the variables that I have ruled out:
- Router. I've tried multiple routers, made sure they were using the latest firmwares, tried QoS and still had an issue on both. I only use hardwired so it not wireless signal issue. We've tried using cat-5e and cat6 ethernet cables too and still no success.
- PC issues. I factory resetted both my PC's and reinstalled Windows/ drivers and made sure my drivers are up to date. I don't have any anti-viruses programs so that's ruled out. It is also not a Fortnite server issue as I play with multiple friends from California in the same lobby as me and they do not have any issues.
Need help please. I don't what has happened honestly and am exhausted trying to fix this problem. I had issues before I had Gigablast and had techs come over only to plug in their machine and say my speeds were fine. What's changed? The past couple months were perfectly fine. This is only an online gaming issue(Fortnite). Surfing the web and streaming movies etc. are unaffected. Thanks for your time.
Edit: This is an issue others are having and they all are from Southern California and have COX

Hi everyone, this is still being looked into to see if this is an issue on our end. We recently replaced a piece of equipment on our network that could have possibly caused packet loss between our network and AWS servers that Fortnite uses (for California, Arizona & Nevada customers). Please provide any current trace routes to Fortnite servers and we will forward them to our network operations team for further investigation. Thanks!

I have the exact same issue as all these people, I love in Orange County and a couple days ago i just happened to start getting crazy packet loss. I've called cox plenty of times trying to fix other issues and in the end they send a "technician" out. I've tried to fix the issue by calling them plenty of times, but at this point I feel like there is nothing i can do. I have massive packet loss and have been paying over 60 dollars for internet for nearly a decade and in the past year all I have gotten is frustration. Please could a moderator help me with this issue on here.

I have the same problem and I play Fortnite. It started about a month ago and it makes the game unplayable half the time. It's nothing on my end as I know how to do network troubleshooting. My day job for the last 15 plus years has been network engineer so I can troubleshoot routers and routes with full confidence. I'm in San Diego, CA. Cox please fix this or work with the ISP's that are peering with you to fix this critical issue. I'm so close to going with DSL now and recommending my friends do the same.

Honestly, this is not getting enough attention. It is a widespread issue throughout San Diego for Cox customers. We would appreciate much more transparency on how this is being solved. It has been almost 3 weeks of this issue where I can't play from the time I get home from work until 11pm. If this keeps up, I will DEFINITELY be switching my ISP to one of your competitors as even if the issue doesn't lie on your side, it is exclusive to Cox and no one else. I have had this internet with you guys for months and it used to be fine so clearly there is something that can be done to remedy the problem.

Same here in Escondido. I’m getting crazy spikes of packet loss. I’m currently running a pingplotter and hopefully that can give Cox some idea of which peer network they need to talk to, to figure out the hiccup.
