Cox is no longer accepting new Email accounts
Since Cox is no longer accepting new Email Accounts, I can only assume that there will be less support for grandfathered Email accounts. I continue to have trouble sending and receiving Emails lately. I perpetually get an error message, especially for sent mail. I have reloaded Microsoft Office, which has Outlook as the program and have initiated repairs. I must now re-boot my computer every time I want to receive or send Email. A Cox Computer Tech said that it is best to go to my Cox Webmail to avoid this issue. Outlook is one of the most universal Email programs. After 39 years as a Cox customer, I am disappointed in there inability to have a reliable interface with their server and Outlook.

Determine if you have Outlook configured for IMAP or POP and verify your port numbers and settings.

You may be experiencing the same issues as I did with yahoo.com mail. I prefer to use Outlook also and recently Yahoo sent out an advisory that they were improving the security on their email servers. The only thing I had to do was implement a new, more cryptic password on my Outlook / yahoo.com mail account which has completely solved my problems (like you described).

I've been a cox customer since the 1990's and using Outlook. I heard about cox Outlook support you're talking about. I spent 2 hours om the phone today with their email tech support to no avail. I didn't change anything after I hung up and later my email was working again. They keep saying it's not them, but it is them. They are about to lose a long time customer with me.
