Admin Login to new gateway

After some issues, I have my new Cox-supplied gateway, a TECHNICOLOR Model: CGM4331COM. I tried to login using the SSID and password on the bottom of the gateway, but those credentials were not recognized. The Cox Tech that did the install was very good, I have to blame myself for not trying to do this while he was here. That said, is there a chance he change the Login credentials? Should I be using some other (perhaps universal) Login? The pic below is from the bottom of the gateway: *moderator edited to remove equipment and network details*

Thanx!

Hi MikeyChris,

I am very sorry to hear this!  There is a possibility the technician could have changed the login credentials.  By chance if you have the Panoramic Wifi App you can pull up the password via the app.

Feel free to send us an email to Cox.Help@cox.com and we would be happy to help you.

Thank you for your reply. I have managed to login to the admin home page of the gateway (I found the answerer on this forum (admin/password). But now I am wondering what the SSID & its password are used for? Can you help? Thanx.

the SSID is the wifi name being broadcast for connectivity on WiFi. The wpa key, or passphrase is the wireless password. it IS case sensitive.

Just to add to what Darkatt said, the network name(SSID) and password is to connect to your wifi network. Once you are connected to the gateways network, admin/password is the username/password for the diagnostic user interface at 192.168.0.1.

May I ask why you need to log into the gateway? What are you trying to do or fix? Most of the settings will require the Panoramic app for configuration, which uses a 3rd username/password, which is the one you use to login to cox.com.

OK. Apparently that was changed (I assume by the installer) because the login was actually admin/password (yes I changed that password after logging in). So the SSID & pw on the bottom of the gateway now do nothing.

So the installer used that SSID & PW to setup my WiFi network, is that what you are saying? I guess that makes sense. So then the default admin/password took over? I always have logged into my gateways going back to DSL days. I want to be able to access it in case the need arises. I don't wanna be locked out of my own gatway. I am also trying to identify everything on my WiFi net because occassionally I get notified of a new device being added and I have added nothing at that time. I also get a lot of security notices about MyCloud (a WD device that serves as my personal cloud, although WD has ceased supporting it) from Cox saying they blocked access because they saw MyCloud's attempts to access my net as a threat. It is running the latest software and I doubt it is a threat (this threat stuff has been happening over the last year or more). So several things on my net appear only as MAC addresses and I am trying to ID them all.

Please disregard this as I found the answer elsewhere on this forum. I am left wondering though: What is the SSID & its password used for?

So, why not let others HERE know what the answer was, or where we can locate it as you did?

Hi, John. The login is on the label. If you are unsure of the SSID or preshared key, you can also locate it by logging into the Cox App or Panoramic Wifi App. In addition. we can log into the router and look at it for you. Please email us the physical address and any other pertinent information to Cox.Help@cox.com with your name and a copy of this forum message. We're happy to help.

What problem are you having or what are you trying to do? Did you read the entire thread/post?

As I mentioned in another post, another message in this forum told that admin/password are the default login credentials for this device. Upon logging in you can change the password, but the user I.D. cannot be changed (at east I could find no way to change it). I still have no idea what the SSID & pw on the gateway data plate are used for. They did not log me into the gateway.

Those the default username(SSID) and password for your wifi connection. It doesn't log you into the gateway. See where I explained here

As for the username, why would you need to change that? It's "admin" because you are logging into the admin interface of the gateway. It's just like logging into a PC. You have user accounts and a admin account.
