Why has my bill cost increased so much??

I have been a loyal COX customer for two years. I share an apartment with one other person, and when we first joined COX in July 2011 our bill was an even $200. After upgrading to DVR service and subscribing to a premium channel, our bill this past year has been consistently at $237. For two people and one apartment, this is absolutely absurd. This is the most I have EVER paid for cable/internet in my entire life. The worst part is that we have been left with no choice as our apartment complex offers no alternative options for cable providers.I feel like COX knows this and is completely taking advantage of us.

This month, our bill increased by over $12 even though we did not change anything on our bill or subscription services. None of our bundle or discount pricing expired, either. Why were we not notified about these price increases???? If it is because of "increased service costs" as the COX reps are saying on other posts in this forum, why have customers not received a notification about this or a detailed breakdown of such costs? I don't know any other company that passes increased costs directly onto their customers in this way. It feels like COX is taking advantage of us and I've had enough. My roommate and I can no longer afford to be customers of COX, their prices were pushing it before and are now simply ridiculous. I fear that our bill will continue to rise exponentially with no notice or explanation over and over again. If they've done this in the past, what will stop them from doing it again?

I am at my wits end and am legitimately considering moving out of my apartment complex to avoid dealing with them. Because honestly if I didn't live in this apartment I would have left COX at least a year ago. I have many friends living in the same area that use competing providers and pay MUCH less for the same services. Does anyone have an explanation for this?? Any advice/support would be greatly appreciated.

Gee. Cox TV Preferred + Cox Internet Preferred + DVR & service + one premium channel is less than $165/month, so I'm curious as to what you're actually getting for your $250/month ($237 + $12.) Also, all price increases are announced on your bill a month or two before they take effect.

Please feel free to email us at coxhelp@cox.com with the account details.  Perhaps we could take a look and see what is going on.

Your Cox bill is $345? Tell us...exactly what do you get from Cox? Massages?

If you add up the most expensive TV, HSI, and Phone Plans, with ALL of the premium channels, WHDVR service, and unlimited local & long distance phone service, the total is well under $300.

I am going to have to  say I know exactly what  people are saying about bill icreases. I saw a post thast stated that Cox notifies yopu of increases hmmm looking at my bill the only thing that I am continualy notified about is what great new features and or services Cox has and the occasional tax hike. I have been with Cox for 5+ years and have decreased my services  and still pay 225- 240 per month, rate icrease or not. The only thing I changed was getting DVR and net, at the time I changed to this my bill was about 175 with the afore mentioned upgrades now 225-240 no other upgrades. OOh but on my services they note I am saving a wopping 20$ per month. I will be switching, every home in my area now has a big ugly dish at their home but my neighbors say they get the same quality and services for around 150$ a month

I was surprised they would consider a dish but from speaking with them and actually being handed their bill statements to look at I'm now covinced. Sure there may be a 1 or 2 year service contract but the neighbors bills don't seem to flucuate as fast or frequent as mine. I don't know but not so happy and not so willing to take this licking and keep on ticking.

Why is it that trolls are usually also lousy spellers? Icreases? Thast? Yopu? Continualy? Icrease [again]? Afore? Wopping?

You can call me a troll if you like but that was not the point of my comment. My point was to state what I felt about lousy service and what I see going on where I live. You seem to be trollin to find negative things to say about people who place their comment in a free speech forum. I am not here to judge anybody but the service provider and sure as *** not here to be Mr. English teacher...point was that the service ** and in the area I live we make a different choice.

I see you were not inttelligent enough to stick to the point of the topic so who is trolling who here?

I didn't realize your aimless rant even had a point. I have already addressed the point of unannounced price hikes. Simply not true. All price hikes are announced a month or two in advance on your bill. [If you check online, be sure to view the *PDF* version of your bill.]

You sure picked an interesting word above to misspell - inttelligent ???

...views...  Whether you like 'em or not.

Sure, it's your right. I just wish you'd put more effort into it, and maybe get your facts straight.

I know exactly how you feel. I have been with Cox over five years and when I signed up with Cox I asked for a basic bundle for cable, phone and Internet. Over the past five years my bill has steadily increase from $116.00 to around $165.00! I don't have any premium channels, I never use my house phone, and I only use the Internet for basic services (no online gaming etc). Cox told me the same thing they told you. One, it's the cost of doing business. Two, they informed me of the changes on the bill. However, I get my bill electronic and changes to my bill aren't listed on my online statement. I finally had Cox go through my bill piece by piece. Cox was charging me for call forwarding. I never used nor, did I ask for call forwarding. Cox was charging me for two different long distance plans. I don't even use my phone. Cox increased my Internet speed without permission. I use the Internet primarily for basic surfing and email communication. My Cable was basic but there was a couple of tiers I never requested. My bill went down for one month. The next month my bill was increased $7.00. Cox relies on people not looking too closely to their bill and are probably added to their current customers the debts of their previous clientele. Not mention at least once a week I can't use the on demand service. My Internet goes down for hours. Of course, no discounts are given then. I am going to give Cox one more month. In the meantime I will be looking into other service providers.

They sure are if you view the PDF version of the bill. Go to VIEW STATEMENTS, select a statement date, and click on the DOWNLOAD BILL (PDF) icon. The result is a 4-page replica of the paper bill. Ahh....technology.
