why did something work at all address and not at new
I have been a cox customer for years and at my previous address I had magic jack phone which worked fine. since I have moved the magic jack fades in and out when on the phone. I have purchased a new magic jack with the same problem. so my conclusion is that it worked fine where I did live and now it does not work at my present address, the conclusion can only be that it has to do with the internet at my present address. you all charged me 40.00 to hook the internet up which all the tech person did was run a little more cord to the old line running into my house.

A few basic questions: what tier internet service do you have? What is the model of your modem / router or gateway? Is the magicJack connected to a computer or directly to your network? Are you getting advertised speeds from your service? If possible, can you connect a PC wired to the modem and run a speed test. Problems with VoIP normally come from bandwidth issues with your connection ... let's see where you are at.

Does the magic jack work normally if you connect a phone directly to it? It almost sounds like your running the line from magic jack into the same phone wiring you have your Cox phone going into. This is bad.
Can you give more info on how you have your magic jack connected and configured?
