Why can't I get sound when I am playing a DVD?
It took a while to figure out how to get to the correct "screen" in order to play a dvd. I can play the dvd but with no sound! I don't know if it has to do with Cox, the TV or the DVD player (all of which are less than a year old). This is the first time I have attempted to view a DVD since getting Cox expanded basic (the one that comes with a DVR).

I do not believe that can have anything to do with Cox.
How is the DVD player connected to the TV?

In what area do you live where "expanded basic" comes with a DVR? You have incorrectly wired your DVD player to your TV.

Hi Mossma,
It sounds like (no pun intended) that the audio cables from the DVD player aren't connected to the TV correctly. Make sure the DVD player connects straight to the TV, not through the cable box. Are you using an HDMI cable, component cables (a set of 5), or composite cables (set of 3)?

Make sure that you have your cable set connected to the same labeled input (#1 or #2), here pictured vertically.
