What happened to weatherscan channel 155?

We were never even informed that it was being removed. Some of us don't get home until after the local news is over. Is local weather not important enough anymore. Foe as much as we pay for cable tv, I think cox could keep weatherscan. A simple I'm sorry, it is no longer available is a pretty sorry answer. What was the the thinking behind this arbitrary decision?

Hello,

Channel changes are controlled and made at the local market level. I regret we have no details at this moment.

It is time for Cox management to realize that they goofed up badly on this one and fix the situation There was no notification that the Weather Channel was going to be removed and the reasons for the removal are weak. Just get it back in service and thus satisfy a lot of unhappy customers.

Did you seriously post this when there are TWO of the EXACT same question one thread under you? Hard to take you seriously commenting about not being told something when you are so unobservant.

I posted the question to cox's Facebook page because I knew they would respond. I was told that channel lineup changes are part of the "news from cox" section of our cox bill. I'm guessing like me you no longer receive a paper bill and do your bill paying on line. I wish too that we were informed some other way that the channel was being removed and I, like you want it back. It helps to be able to see a real time radar that continuously updates during bad weather. Local news only cuts into programming during severe weather. It's also nice to know if bad weather is approaching before I leave home to run errands or go to work. Having to wait until the "the local on the" with the weather channel doesn't always help. They don't show it when they are not on air broadcasting the weather.

Yes, as soon as I receive my Visa gift card from Cox, I too will be switching to FIOS. Channel 155 was the first channel I turn to first thing in the morning to check the weather. (Yes, even before ESPN!!) No other channel gives me real time updates on the weather. I don't have the time or the patience to do the "On the 8's" thing. I'm extremely PISSED!!!!!

And that gives you the right to copy/paste the same reply into 3 threads? Seems Weather Channel people are a "special" lot.

Tecknowhelp - and for some reason you think you are a self-appointed thread monitor/admin?  One would think that you - a private customer - would have better things to do than act as a moderator.  How about adding to the discussion constructively, or shut your cake hole and sit in the corner while the grown-ups talk...

No I don't. Please don't tell me what I think. I am some one who used to work for Cox and this is one forum I am on. As a customer, I can post anywhere I want, and as long as I am following forums procedures, post anything I want. There are others here who do the same thing. Just because you don't agree with what I said doesn't give you the right to insult me.

Would this be the adult that created a user account just to tell someone to shut their cake hole? How about you shut yours? You have added nothing at all to the conversation except to insult. Thats what I meant about being a "special lot". The people complaining about the loss of the channel seem irrational and emotional... over the weather.

Jeesh...I can only imagine the bitterness when they finally remove Bravo from the lineup.

As someone who owns and operates a remodeling and roofing company I subscribed to an additional package specifically to get the Weatherscan channel because having accurate, up-to-date weather information is crucial to planning my work day and notifying customers of potential delays that may occur due to inclement weather.  I too turned this channel on every morning and am extremely disappointed that Cox has chosen to take this action with no valid explanation for doing so.  It is horrible customer service considering the bill amount I pay every month!!

@Tecknowhelp

-Like you said earlier...." As a customer, I can post anywhere I want". Just like you have the right the troll the Cox forums and comment on what other customers comment on. I didn't disrespect anyone as I believe everyone has a right to say what they want to say. With that being said stop worrying about what other customers post. My rule is if you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it to anyone online. I'm pretty sure if you find the time to troll Cox forums then you're not about "that life". Chill out.

I agree. "The_Angry_Man" made a post stating if I didn't have anything constructive to say, to not talk. That is not a comment, but a command. It is also ironic to post a non-constructive comment about someone not being constructive. Forums have etiquette. You don't use CAPS, you don't spam threads, search before commenting, and if criticizing someones idea, make sure you have a better one. That isn't me being a moderator, that's me knowing how to use a forum.

I agree. Anyone want to talk face to face? Will gladly give out my google phone number or meet. I have nothing to hide or fear. If I saw someone in a library yelling, angry they no longer have a certain book, I would tell them get to get out. This isn't a place to vent anger. This is a place to fix problems.

To get back on topic, is the problem that WeatherScan is gone, or that there is no replacement? Does Cox plan on providing a replacement like Accuweather?  Also, does Contour have a feature like the old boxes that will show you weather data? Kind of like the Sports and News options that show you several channels at once?

With the advent of the internet, smartphones and hourly weather forecasts, who cares about a 24 hour weather channel?

I agree with Cox.
