what happened to ion television, channel 49?

Channel 49 (ion tv on my "package") shows fuzz. It's been going on for a few weeks now. I've seen nothing on my account page or on the Cox home page about a channel reassignment, and Cox's own tv listings show a lineup for the channel. Also, out of those 3 or 4 pieces of mail i get EVERY WEEK trying to get me to sign up for *more* great Cox service, not one of those mentioned, 'by the way, this channel isn't active anymore.' Chatting w/support was futile. What happened to the channel?

What is your state/city/zip code? Ion TV is still on the air. Is it a sub-channel of an OTA station in your area?

new orleans, la 70119. I have no idea about sub channels. I know that when i go to My Tools and look at the channel lineup, it appears there. when i go to tv listings for my zip code, it appears there. when i turn my tv to channel 49, there's nothing.

Around your area, ION is on WPXL. Do you have a STB? If so, do you get ION-HD on 1049?

Hi LoisLane,

I apologize that you haven't been able to get an answer to your question! To add further confusion, the channel lineup for your area has not yet been updated to include the latest changes. Your January statement included the following note regarding channel 49/1049:

On January 21, 2015, Cox will offer WPXL (channel 49 and HD channel 1049) exclusively in a digital format. Digital equipment (Clear QAM TV, CableCARD or digital receiver) will be required to view this channel. If you have a Clear QAM TV, you will need to perform a rescan on your TV. If you are an analog customer and wish to continue receiving these channels, please call us at 855-496-9290 to acquire a digital receiver or additional information.

Does your TV have a built-in digital tuner? If you haven't already done so, go into the Menu (or Settings) for your TV and run a channel scan. If the TV does have a digital tuner, a channel scan will allow it to locate WPXL/ION channel 49 on the new channel map. Please let us know the outcome of the scan!
