Update Firmware of DPC-3010

My speeds are at 1-2 Mbps with ultimate.  I have talked to everyone one the phone and the technician said my signals are fine.  The problem is intermittent and can last for days to weeks.  It is a miserable internet experience when I pay maximum price for the fastest service.  Can someone send me the information for upgrading the firmware?

Your modems firmware should update automatically. Have you run a speed test through your account on cox.com?

I doubt a speed decrease of that much is a firmware issue.

1. What test are you doing to determine the 1-2Mbps?

2. Are you connected direct to the modem?

3. What are your signal levels?

The firmware for the modem is current, and is automatically pushed from our end. The signal levels are not showing any issues that I am seeing. Like Trikein asked what site are you seeing those results from and how are you connected right now? Going through a wireless router or is it a hardwired connection to a router or to the modem when you are seeing those speeds?

Sorry for the delay.  Just to be certain I directly connected my computer to the cable modem and I still have the speeds of ~2Mbps.  It has been going on for over a week now and when it has happened in the past is would usually just go away.  I have tested with speedtest.net and the tool on my cox account page.  Both give similar results.

I was connected to my router before, hard wired so I can confirm it isn't my router.  I also tried on my laptop over wireless with the router rebooted to factory settings.  The speeds are the same.  I don't have a numeric value for my signal levels but they are reported good by a technician physically present in house and by cox personnel remotely.

I have tried every form of reboot, computers, modems, routers, hard and soft.

I removed the only splitter on this line so now it comes out of the wall into the modem directly.

I reset my router to factory settings.

I have tried to wait it out for over a week now.

Yes Edward, I read that the firmware updates "automatically" but it may not push firmware updates to devices that don't have "issues."  This is fairly common practice since firmware updates are somewhat risky and can break devices that may not be broken.  I have read about a very similar instance in which a customer was told the same thing but another cox rep on this forum checked and manually upgraded (or who knows downgraded) the firmware.  This seemed to solve speed issues for some, but I'm not saying it will solve mine.  I'm just saying there isn't much else left to try.

If you can check my account too; I called up over the weekend about this problem and I ended up downgrading to premier from ultimate, and also ordering a TV package.  I don't see how this would affect my service since they supposedly weren't going to make changes until I picked up the cable box, which I still haven't.  Just to be clear, my problem was occurring several days before that phone call so I don't see how it is related but it may be worth checking.

My speeds right now are between 1-2 Mbps.  I can barely surf two pages at a time. Again, I have heard of success with a manual firmware update.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that I noticed a little while back that the TV channels I used to get with my digital TV are now full of static.  Not the actual "digital channels" such as 102.3 or 108.12, but I got channels 3, 4, 5... 60 something, with most working in between.  The picture wasn't HD but it was decent, now they are mostly static.  The 108.12 and other "HD" channels still work.  I'm not sure if this could be related or provides any insight but who knows.

Sounds like a signal issue to me. Especially if your seeing snow on the lower channels.

Clicking here should show your signal levels, or you can just type in 192.168.100.1 into your browser. Thats the IP of your modem (kind of). Just copy/paste. Should look something like this:

Hey this went to my junk inbox so I never saw that anyone replied.  I bought a new modem and the same problems exist.  I am only getting 1x4 bonding.  1 upstream at 44dB s/n ratio and 4 downstream near 37 s/n ratio.
