Unable to record multiple shows on DVR....
We just signed up for the Whole Home DVR, with 4 different DVRs. For the most part we are pretty happy with it, except for the fact that if we try to record more than 1 show at a time, it forces us to watch one of the shows while it is recording, unless we cancel one of them. We have 6 people in the house who have various schedules and like to watch things at different times. If they try to record something while someone else is recording something else and I just happen to be watching something completely different, this can be very frustrating. Is there something we have to set up on the DVRs to allow us to record more than one show at a time? or is this how its suppose to be? If it is, in my personal opinion, its not worth it, and not what we were told we would be getting. Because lets face it, that's the whole point of having a DVR, to be able to record your shows you are missing.

Each host box can record up to two shows at once however that ties up both tuners. This means you can record two shows and watch one or record one and watch something else. If this is not what you're experiencing there may be some technical issue with the box. You could try disconnecting power to for two minutes and reconnecting it to see if that resets everything.

When we signed up for the whole home...well over a year ago...we were told that the ability to record up to 4 shows at once was coming soon. Was the tech full of cra p, or is this coming sometime before I start collecting social security? We have had so many problems with this system that we're getting very close to giving up and looking at other options. FIOS is coming our way soon...if Cox doesn't get their act together by the time FIOS is an option, we're done here. I'm getting tired of paying $200 a month for lousy service and broken promises.

This is very interesting, considering the adverts I have been seeing out here in the Phoenix market have been touting the ability to record up to 16 programs at once--no mention of requiring multiple DVR boxes in the small print, and I have asked now an installer and three reps (2 techs and one sales/billing) who said I should be able to record up to 16 from one box, which seemed amazing to me, but it's been years since I've wasted time with cable, so *shrug* I don't know what kind of advancements have been made.

Just to clarify, each host box is capable of recording up to two programs at once and the 16 program simultaneous recording claim is made based on a configuration where 8 host boxes are installed.
