Trying to connect new modem to wifi router.

I just bought two Zoom 5341J modems(so I don't have to rent them) and I am trying to hook up my wifi routers to them with no success. One router is a Netgear r7000, which was working with the Cox supplied modem. The other is a Netgear N300. Is there anything special that I need to do to get these working?

Thanks

It definitely sounds like there's a lot going on here when I look at everything from here. For starters, in order to use two cable modem you'll need to purchase two Internet connections from us.  I'm thinking this is probably not what you want to do.

If you currently are renting a device from us it'll need to be returned.  If you also have telephone with us you'll need to keep it in order for the phone service to work.  If this device is also a wireless modem/router however it can be exchanged for a device that doesn't have home networking ability which is free to rent if you are a telephone subscriber.

Wasn't aware that we needed two lines. We had both hooked up on our last internet service and didn't need two lines. We don't want that. Then the other issue. Yes we have phone service with you. I don't want to rent a modem but this seems to give me no other choice. I don't believe the modem that was put in was a wireless router also as the tech hooked up our wireless router to it. How do I get this modem free that works with a phone and I can plug my wireless router to?

Thanks

jmysr123,

If you  subscribe to our phone service using a phone modem (EMTA) would be of no charge to you.  The only time you would pay a rental fee is if you have a phone modem but no phone service, and you are using it for internet.

The modem I have is used for both phone and internet. Does the same apply?

You'll need to keep that modem for phone service to work correctly.  If it is also a wireless router you can save on the rental charges by returning it and exchanging it for one that does phone but is not also a wireless router.

Cisco Model DPQ3212 8x4 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with Embedded Digital Voice Adapter

This is the modem that I received from Cox. I don't believe it is a router also. Is there a modem/wifi router combo that can be purchased to replace the one given to me for rent.

Yes, the 3212 does not have a wireless router.  These modems are provided free of any rental charge during the time you have phone service with us.  There is a model 3925 that also has an integrated wireless router which we have for rent if a customer is wishing to have an all in one device that includes support for phone service with us.
