TEMPORARILY OFF AIR
Turn TV on and get "TEMPORARILY OFF AIR", please check back later. Been wasting my time reading about this and one message mentions parental control. That's never been enabled and is not enabled now. The mini box works fine. The scientific america cable box give the off air message for all channels too. I assume something happened to the box. Ideas???? Thanks.

"TEMPORARILY OFF AIR" has nothing to do with parental controls. Curious where you read that. Temporary off air means either the cable box needs to be reset or the signal to that outlet isn't good. Have you tried rebooting the box? Can you swap the non working box to the mini box outlet and see if it works?

This symptom has been occurring since this weekend: on some channels the audio will drop, the picture becomes pixelated and then it becomes so bad, the Temporary Off Air screen appears.
It happens the most on Fox News HD...even this morning. Perhaps Cox is suppressing conservative views?

Hope that was a joke. Also, if Cox was going to suppress anything, it wouldn't be Fox.

Regarding parental controls....
https://www.cox.com/residential/search.html?i=1&q=TEMPORARILY+OFF+AIR&q1=Support&rank=rank_forums&sp_k=*&view=xml&x1=section
So that's why I mentioned. I pulled the plug and reconnected and it works. Thanks Tecknowhelp!

Probably because of the "Temporarily Unlock Parental Controls" text in the article. One thing I learned.. don't try to use Cox's support "knowledge" base. It is a embarrassment; dead links, missing articles, and a search engine powered by gerbils. Your 10 times better just using Google. Even this forum's search function doesn't work past the 2nd page. ::sigh::
PS. If you find you have to reset your box a lot for that exact problem, you might still have a signal problem. If so, I can give more info on how to see signal levels/diagnostics.
