" Temporarily Off Air" message

One week ago I switched a year old HD cable box for a new one after recorded shows would halt and pause and not play. Since then, several channels (HD and standard) give me an error "Temporarily Off Air" screen, however, I was curious and found a few times that the channels are viewable on a non-HD box in another room. On occasion, the message will show up on the HD channel but on the same network on standard definition, the show is viewable.

I've also had several recorded shows with the "we're sorry, this show is currently unavailable" error message.

I am so sick of cox and these cable boxes. They are loud, even when turned off, and give me all these problems.

Is it really an outage or a box problem?

It's an inconvenience you'll have to get used to.  If you go to Forum Home and search "Temporarily Off Air," you'll get nine pages of ongoing threads.

I learned to accept certain Off Air channels and reset when I need.

Temporary off air is a default message that appears when the receiver isn't getting a signal for a channel. It's kind of like your check engine light in your car. It lets us know there is something wrong and we will need to trouble shoot to resolve it. Is the cable straight from the wall to the receiver or is there a splitter?

The cable is straight from the wall but I do believe we have a splitter in the house.

I suggest swapping the ends of the cable. What's in the wall put in the receiver and vice versa.
