System connectivity

I live in Virginia Beach and have the contour 'system'. My question is, Is it possible to program the Cox remote to turn my Denon tuner and Sharp TV on along with my set top box? I have tried inputting the various codes for the brand of TV and also tried the search code function. The 'extra' pieces do respond as if the code was found but I can't get all components to come on. Thanks
