STB performance and functionality

I have the SA 8240 HDC DVR running Rovi 3.7 with the Advanced TV package. The scenario: I'm watching a previously recorded program while also recording another program. What happens: When the program that is recording ends and stops recording, the previously recorded program that I am watching stops playing and reverts to live TV. I have to go into the DVR list, find it, select it and press resume playback. I haven't had this box for very long so I'm not sure if this is a normal operation. My old box never did this. I swapped out a SA 8300 Non-HD for the 8240 when I got a new HDTV. I like to swap out this 8240 (seems a bit outdated and the program guide in 4:3 is somewhat off-putting) for a 2 tuner box with the Contour/Trio guide without the extraneous Contour services. Does anybody know if that is an option? If so, what model # should I ask for? I'm in the San Diego, CA market.

Ask for the Cisco 8642HDC. Guide is selectable aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9) Unit has 500GB HDD. 2-tuners.

So, before unhooking everything and lugging my 8240 ten miles to the Cox store to swap for the 8642 AND more importantly so there wouldn't be any surprises I emailed Cox and asked about the swap. "As for switching out for a box with the TRIO guide (Contour), Contour installations require a professional installation. Thank you again for contacting us via e-mail. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Sincerely, Colleen Cox Social Media Support Specialist" I have to ask: Which part of screwing on the cable and plugging in the box requires a professional? This is not the Whole Home Contour service I"m asking for, just a stand alone box.

Yes, but the CSRs have been trained to associate Trio=Contour=WHDVR=PRO Install even though it's not really necessary. Just swapping for the 8642HDC requires installation of a MoCA filter to keep MoCA noise from entering your neighborhood's wiring. It's just a screw-on barrel filter, but Cox sees an easy $60. They tried (and failed) the same with me. Sigh...
