Sound level drops after reboot

This morning I was watching a movie when the cable box froze and then rebooted itself. Since the reboot, the sound level seems to have dropped. Before the reboot, if I had the sound at level 18 it seemed really loud. Now it is at 26 and I can barely hear it.

I have a Contour 2 tuner box with a Toshiba TV connected with a HDMI cable. The sound drop is on live TV as well as recorded programs.
