SONY Bravia LED HD 3D & On-Demand Free 3D

I have a Sony Bravia LED HD 3D connected to the COX HD cable box with a SONY High Speed HD 3D HDMI cable.  The TV Settings for 3D are set Auto Detect and Auto Notify.  My options are Off, Side by Side, (something else) and Simulated.  When I use the SONY 3D offerings they auto-detect, automaticly switch to 3D and I'm good to go.

When I'm watching COX I get the HD fine.  While watching COX ( say 1042 ) I can enter the SONY 3D settings and select Side-By-Side.  Of course this gives a screwed up picture BUT I *can* set the SONY to Side-By-Side if I want to HOWEVER.....

When I enter OnDemand the SONY settings for Side-By-Side and (something else) and DISABLED and all I can chose are Off or Simulated.  If I continue to Free -> 3D and chose a movie the SONY *does not* auto detect or autoamticly switch *AND* Cox displays an error message.  The SONY 3D options remain disabled.

As soon as I exit OnDemand I can once again select any 3D option I want.

It's NOT the SONY it's COX:  How do I fix this?  The reason I upgraded to COX HD was in order to use their 3D content!

Hi jd3,

First thing to check is the HDMI cable. The receiver has to be connected to the TV via an HDMI 1.4 cable.

Also, a 3D–ready TV purchased before February 2010 is not compatible with HDMI 1.4 and therefore will not work. Manufacturers of those previously sold 3D–ready TV sets have indicated they will offer a piece of equipment to make those 3D–ready TV sets capable of receiving the new content. You can check with your vendors about availability.

Stephanie et al,

I had stepped back from this for a while as I was waiting for my SONY BlueRay 3D DVD player & 3D Glasses to arrive in order to insure that the issue wasn't the TV ( SONY Bravia purchased fall of 2012 ).  I also picked up a second SONY <blah><blah><blah> "3D" HDMI cable ( I already had one on the receiver ).

I hooked up the BlueRay etc and that worked fine ( SONY Bravia auto-detected the 3D signl and adjusted itself accordingly ).  I then went back to COX Free Zone - 3D and "vola'" NPF ( well... still have to select 3D rendering mode manually )...

All's well that ends well !!!

Thanks
