Smart TV
I have a DVR6 which I use to record a lot of stuff. I have a TV hooked up to it. I am going to replace an older TV. I am thinking of getting a SMART TV. Am I going to be able to use my SMART TV to watch recorded programs if I dont have a box hooked up to it????

Typically, "Smart" TV simply means that it has Wifi capability and built-in Video Streaming apps like Netflix.
You will need a Contour HD Receiver hooked up to the new TV to enable the Contour Whole-Home DVR feature which lets you record in one room and watch in another.

If you're going to be replacing the old TV with a new one, why not just connect the new one to the DVR? Smart TV may have extra features, but they also still work as normal TV's. Are you looking to save money? You could make your own DVR/PVR with a old computer, a tuner card, and a bunch of other stuff, but it would be difficult unless you're experienced in computers.

Which card you have doesn't so much matter as the networking between server and TV. How do you currently have things hooked up?
