Hi,
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed very slow speeds. Often it is running as slow as 2Mbps to 8Mbps. Yes, I've connected directly to the router as a test. I've never had this issue since subscribing to Cox since 2009 in the Irvine area. Can somebody have a look at my modem signal? Thank you.

I see two devices attached to the modem when I look from here. Did you try testing with just one attached yet? There would also be some benefits achieved by upgrading to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. The channel bonding capability they have gives you access to additional data channels which helps offset speed issues resulting from peak demand on a single channel.

Yes, I have a 2nd router plugged in. I was just recently and I believe the problem existed even before then. I'll take that and the switch out just to test. Do you really believe I will benefit from a DOCSIS 3.0 modem even with my subscription? Thanks.
PS. I couldn't reply to your post without having to sign up for another forum id. I kept signing in at the top of the page but the forum never seems to know that I've already done that. Is there a login button somewhere else?

Yes you would probably still benefit from an upgrade. The older modem can only access 1 data channel at a time. Should demand for bandwidth peak at any given point of the day speeds can drop however if you have a 3.0 modem it would just get additional bandwidth from the additional channels it's bonded to allowing for a more consistent performance experience.

I've upgraded my modem to the SB6141 and it does seem a lot faster. Before I did the upgrade I was getting around 10Mbps and after the upgrade it jumped to over 20Mbps. I'll continue to monitor and see how it goes. Thanks.
