promo question

If I sign up for the next speed tier for $5 on my internet, does that obligate me to keep that package, at regular price, for two years, after the promo is up?  Or can I move back to the plan I was at before (at regular price of course).

That is a question our sales team would be better positioned to answer. I looked from this end and based on your current setup the upgrade would not work with your existing modem.
