Problems with Tuning Adapter

The move that Cox has had underway for quite a while (moving general channels from broadcast to SDV) made it impossible for me to view approximately 50 channels. Neither of my DVRs (Tivo and Moxi) worked well with the provided Cisco Tuning Adapters (the technicians couldn't/wouldn't diagnose), so these channels weren't available with or without the Cisco TAs. The Cisco TAs also limited recording from 4 simultaneous programs to 2 simultaneous programs.

Hi NunyaBzness,

You shouldn't be having these kind of problems with the cable card and tuning adapter. If you have a 4 tuner card, we can balance it with 2 adapters and still get it working. There aren't many 4 tuner cards but I've worked with quite a few. Do you have the adapter connected at this time? Can you tell me what message you get when you tune to a switch digital channel?

What is the specific Model # of the TiVo?
Where are you located?
What channels are you not able to tune?
The Moxi is no longer supported by ARRIS/Moxi and hasn't had a SW update in years. But you should be able to still tune 3 simultaneous streams assuming it is the 3-tuner Moxi.

The Cisco Tuning Adapter is NOT limited to 2 simultaneous programs This is purely false. (Although this was true prior to approx August 2011)
You also cannot use 2 Tuning Adapters with one CableCARD it does not work that way and is not needed.

The Current Firmware supports 6 Tuners, I have a 6 Tuner TiVo Roamio Pro with a Cisco TA. No problems.

Your Cisco TA should have the following Firmware FLASH: STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1601

If by chance your Cisco TA is running an old version like FLASH: STA1.0.0_1520_LR_F.1402 - You may be limited to 4 tuners, but not just 2.  Anything older than F.1402 will reduce the TA to just 2 tuners, but Cox updated the firmware back in August 2011, So no one should be seeing that Firmware, if the TA is communicating with the Cable Plant.

The Tuning Adapter should automatically update the Firmware, if it is not getting updated you may have a bad TA or a signal issue or the TA is not properly provisioned.

Also your SA/Cisco CableCARD should be running OS Vers PKEY1.5.3_F.p.0601
An older OS Version may reduce your available tuners to only 4, but not just 2

The CableCARD should also automatically update the OS Version (Firmware)
