Premier internet dowload problems

Hello, I have Premier internet, but my download speeds do not go above 25 mbps. My upload speeds are usually between 20-25. I have a Motorola Surfboard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Modem and a Asus RT-N66U dual band N router, and I called and gave them the modem's serial number and pin number to make sure that was in the system. I have connected my computer directly to the modem to check the speeds, and it never goes above 25, but the representative today said that the signals looked good going to my unit. He said it could be my modem, but I have only had it a couple of years (about 3-4). What else could I do? Buy a new modem? Otherwise, if it doesn't go above 25mbps download there is no use paying for premier at this point...

I was also just curious, I had been reading similar problems to mine (most people had posted this problem about a year ago), and it seemed to be related to some code for premier that is different for DOCSIS 3 vs 2 modems.... could this be the problem? If it is, who do I contact regarding how to change it

The modem is showing the old information for Premier still tied to it, the updates have been sent to it, so you should be able to try testing the connection speed again.

I tried the test again, and it's now up to 40 mbps (I also tried it at peak hours, so it might just be lagging a bit), so it seems like that worked. Thank you very much for your help Edward, I really appreciate it.

Also having this issue, though i just stepped up to premier internet today, as well as installed a new SB6141 modem. Prior to the install, I was getting 32Mbps download(high for preferred service i believe). After calling and having the modem recognized, I am still getting the same speeds per Cox's speed test. Can you check my modem, just to be sure everything is setup properly? or should I start a new thread? Thanks in advance.

Much better, thank you. 48 Mbps down. I was wondering why I lost internet :)
