Poor Upload Speed

So seems since Cox rolled out their new "double" the speeds a while back I have not been able to do any gaming.   I have had very poor upload speed.  I've searched the forums and everyone with similar problems are locked.  Your Ookla speedtest are totally inaccurate.  And yeah i bypassed the router, bought a new modem,  had a tech come out.  All the tech can offer is a smoke ping.  If you really want an accurate speed test, just time how long it takes to upload or download a file.  Speedof.me tells my upload is 1.0 or less.  Ookla clocks in at the usual 11.0 or higher.  Cox if you are throttling that's fine, just be honest about it.  I get better speeds on my verizon hotspot.  It should not take 10 minutes to upload a 40mb file,or one minute to download the same file, with the supposed 125mbps down and 11.0mbps up cox is saying I have.  And moderator, start unlocking the threads that you have no answer for so that more of us with the exact same problems can communicate.

Perhaps we can start by visiting http://192.168.100.1 and gathering some signal statics and posting here.  Maybe there'll be some useful information we can use and go from there.

I think I found your modem actually and it appears healthy from this end.  Would you be able to try testing without the router to see if that makes any difference?

I've already been down that road.

@grinningsoul

If you're not able to try that the next suggestion I can offer is to send a technician out to troubleshoot further on site.

As I stated in my original post, I've done all that.  How long does a smokeping take?  Can you tell me if it has been ordered?

@grinningsoul

The only smokeping reference I'm familiar with is a tool that customers can use to test connectivity.  It's not something that is run from our end.

I don't see anything indicated and after taking another look at the connection I'm not seeing any indication of any issues at the present.  Your speed tests also all look to be where they should be as well.  Are you still seeing issues?

No offense but your speed test on your site is bogus.  Ookla claims my upload is anywhere from 10-14 mbps.  I ran my own test.  It was pretty simple.  I took a stopwatch and I took a file and I uploaded to cloud drive.  The file size 36.1mb and Cox with the claimed 14.0 mbps speed took 2.33 minutes....that's  abysmally slow.  I then used my Verizon hotspot with a test coming in at 8.4mbps upload,  almost half the amount as Cox and yet I uploaded the same file in 46 seconds.

Now I know most ppl do not care about upload, only about download.  And most ppl, including myself, won't notice the difference between 64mbps download and 125mbps download. But any gamer will tell you upload is crucial.  In fact I've found post with ppl having the same problem in your own forums http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/4122.aspx?pi287=2  http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/3654.aspx

When you have an automobile that won't drive over 25mph and you complain to your mechanic who puts it on the scope which says you car is fine.  it should go 100mph.  Do you just accept that scope is right and you just putt down the road at 25mph and tell yourself I guess I bought the car so I can pass the scope test and not really use it for real life driving?

So I have to close with the thought you must spend millions on unnecessary tech calls when the problem is on your end.

Hi Tiffany yeah I've been through that.  Cox is monitoring the lines supposedly.  I know my speed test on your site are up where they should be.  But passing a speed test on Cox's site using Cox's network is not realistic.  In the real world outside of Cox the speed is lower.

I just tried to upload a simple 10mb file using Cox's internet to Cox's cloud with a supposed upload speed of 14.0.  It took 1.5 minutes to upload the file.  I then uploaded the same file using my Verizon hotspot also with the speed of 14.0 to Cox's cloud and it took 11.19 seconds.  http://i.imgur.com/oUgpu77.png  <<<this is a link to a screen shot of Cox's speed test showing both Cox and Verizon's upload speed being equal.

This tells me a couple of things. A) your speed test is rigged or B) your speed test is accurate and Cox's is throttling.  I don't know what else explains the fact that your speed test is showing great speeds on you site and horrible anywhere else.  By the way other speed test not made by Ookla test much, much lower for Cox and relatively the same for the Verizon hotspot.

So now it's a cloud issue even though I have no problem uploading to Cox's cloud using Verizon hotspot? Is Verizon's server closer to Cox's cloud than Cox is?  Should I call Google support because I cannot upload to their drive with Cox's upload speed? And when I tell Google it's fine using my Verizon but not Cox what do you think they will tell me?
