I will be cancelling my service soon but would really like to keep my primary email address active. I thought about just moving it to another COX account that I'm an authorized user on, but was told the primary account cannot be moved. What are my options? If I cancel the account, therefore deleting the email account, could I immediately set up the same account elsewhere or is there a waiting period? ANY help is appreciated.

We'd hate to see you leave, if I I can help with that at all please let me know. As for the email a primary can still be moved to another account although it wouldn't be primary anymore.

Thank you for the concern, but I've already called 3 times and asked to speak to the loyalty department to see about getting a promotional rate that even just came close to what I was leaving for... they said "it's impossible". So, I'm planning to cut all services within the next few days.
I was also told by 2 people that there is no way the primary can move. I don't care if it is primary on the new account, I just want to keep using the email account :) How do I go about having it moved to another account??

The only issue I could see if being the primary it may not be able to be directly moved however it can still be deleted and recreated on a new account.. Note that if you're a webmail only user however this method will result in the loss of your email and address book.

OK, so as soon as I cancel my services and the primary is deleted, I should be able to immediately recreate the account elsewhere? Don't they retain the account for some time in case of reactivation? Can that be overruled?

If a mailbox has been deleted (not the contents but the mailbox itself) it can sometimes be recovered within a few days but not always.

Recovering the contents isn't as important as recovering access to the mailbox and continuing to receive new messages. I just wanted to be sure once the primary is deleted with the account, I can almost immediately set up the mailbox on another account, with content retrieval being a bonus.

Both actions can be done on the same call and even before disconnecting service if you prefer. We would just need to speak with somebody authorized on the other account to verify we have permission to add your email address.

That's where I'm confused. Like I said, I've called 3 times and they said the email cannot be moved since it is primary on the account AND while the account is still Active, but you're saying it can be done prior to disconnecting service. If that is the case, I can call and get that done now. Is there a specific # I should call or should my local # work and just select Internet support? I'm even willing to go into a local center if it means speaking to someone knowledgeable.

If the account is active it can not be "moved" but if they are deleted that can be done at any time, and at that point can be added over the phone or through the primary login on the account you are trying to put them on. It may be on what the technician is hearing, for the primary to be deleted it does have to be done through technical support or in person through a service center.

OK thanks. I just wanted to make sure I could regain access in a reasonable amount of time. I will call when I am ready. Thank you both!
