Opening a Port

One of the pieces of software I use on my PC requires that ports 25 and 53 be open.  Based on this link, looks like 25 is blocked.  http://www.cox.com/residential/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=cacf82f0-6407-11df-ccef-000000000000

How can i open it?

You can't. Its blocked by Cox, probably to stop people from running DNS and and SMTP relay servers on residential accounts. Get a Business account maybe?

Port 25 has been so abused by spammers over the years almost no one allows it any more, cox included. I suggest to see what options you have in your software for a different port number.

You make an interesting point.  While the software does not work at my house, it does work at the coffee shop down the street.

I am using my home internet for business purposes, maybe they will open it up

Hi Enzo1, the service is designed for personal, non-business related use of the Internet and may not be used for commercial purposes. We will not unblock port 25. Your best option is to convert to a business account.
