On Demand

This is becoming quite a common problem.

Last night, I tried to view some On Demand programs. After selecting the show and hitting the Play icon, it did its usual thing for several seconds and then came up with a message that On Demand is not available at this time, Please call .....

I'm getting sick and tired of talking to someone thousands of miles away to try to deal with such a stupid problem.

It have a hunch this is actually a Cox ploy to get me to upgrade my box and pay extra $$$$$ every month to have the DVR feature.

What can be done to stop this **?

I looked from this end and I'm getting no response from the box which is probably another symptom of the same root cause for the OnDemand problems you're seeing.  I'd suggest checking all of the connections to ensure they're hand tight then disconnect power to the box for two minutes and reconnecting to see if a reset helps.  If that doesn't work it may be time to arrange for a technician to come out and troubleshoot further.

Hi sarrgentodiaz! This has been a problem for quite some time. There is a topic on this forum that was started on September 24 and has 38 posts on it. Cox ignored our complaints for weeks and is just now working on the technical side of things. The answer that Chris L. just gave you is their standard line that we got for nearly two weeks. I can't believe he posted that when the other thread has so many irrate customers! His standard response to your post shows the actions (or inactions in my opinion) that their service reps are taught. Blame the customer for two weeks (the problem is with your connection) and then...OOPS!... this is a technical problem and we're working on it. Then they asked that we please be patient! I think waiting nearly 3 weeks for a service that you are paying for and not getting is pretty darn patient.

I responded to the post with the information that absolutely NOTHING has changed in the last 48 hours and I think this is just another Cox scam to make me upgrade my service to DVR.

They came out and checked by box and all the cable connection several weeks ago. I called and they came out again, this time saying there was something wrong with the service from the street to my home - supposedly fixed that.

So, what's going on? Am I right in my idea of it being a scam on their part?

Okay, I finally called the support phone line and got an operator.

She had me turn off everything, including the box and tv. After a few minutes, she had me go to the box Power button and hold it in. After a few seconds, it went through the reboot procedure. Once the time showed, she had me turn on the tv and I watched it go through the full book process.

After that, went to OD, clicked on Prime Time, when to my channel and show and IT WORKED! Still 11 days behind on the shows I want to watch and NO CW!

Sarrgentodiaz,

Cox is experiencing technical issues with our On Demand platform and some content may be missing or delayed. We are working now to restore the content to the On Demand menu as soon as possible.

It's a system glitch. There's nothing wrong with your box.  I spoke to a Cox service rep today and they are trying to find the problem by weeding through several systems....time consuming. Hang in there!  You are not alone!
