Our channels are encrypted to the Mini Box, and have audio/video out. I'm not completely sure if Eye TV is compatible. You're using a MAC and what model Eye TV device? What is your current home configuration with the Mini Box?

I currently have 2 tvs set up with the contour dvr boxes and have always had my model RW eye TV 250 plus plugged directly into the incoming coax.

Another case of Michael not reading before posting
brian stated he has the EyeTV connected directly to cable. He will need a minibox to continue using the EyeTV. Brian, unless the EyeTV or Mac can control an IR blaster & you can get the minibox codes, you will need the remote to change channels.
