My reminders for programs have no sound to let me know about the reminders

My old box when I had a reminder set it would ding so if I wasn't in the room I could go and change the channel.  The "contour" does not ding on reminder so if I am not directly in front of the tv I miss the reminders.  Is there a fix for this.

I was told this was a contour box.   There is no time or cable channel # on the box, just a blue stripe.
