Is there any way to move my wired cable modem from one room of my house to another room (which has an existing cable jack) without needing a COX technician? Telephone support claimed it would cost me $49.95 to have a technician come out. Seems excessive considering it would likely take 5 to 10 minutes to complete the work.
Thanks.

You should be able to move the modem to any operable jack without needing a technician to come out. If the jack is not operable for some reason you could either troubleshoot the wiring issue yourself, arrange for us to install/troubleshoot the outlet, or hire a contractor of your choosing.
