M-Card CableCARD, HDHRPrime, MTR700, nothing but "TV Starter" channels detected. Manchester, CT
I picked up a CableCARD Self-install kit Wednesday. It took a day or so for the HDHRPrime log to show that the CARD is Authenticated and Validated. I just got off the phone with a very nice young lady who, at the suggestion of a coworker with more CableCARD experience, sent several signals to my CARD. No effect ... detecting channels still just finds the "TV Starter" channels. She *DID* mention that she can see that the CARD is successfully paired, but that it's not showing a signal on her end (a Black icon instead of Green, Yellow or Red). She's scheduled a tech to come out to the house Monday to check line levels even tho the MTR700 is claiming a good signals and carrier locks.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you,

I don't see a way to edit my post, so I'm replying it. The CSR I was working with this morning is who suggested I come to these forums as an additional source of assistance.

I do not think your CableCARD is properly Paired and Validated,
You should check CableCard->Conditional Access screen to see if your CableCard is properly paired. You should see a "V" after Val for properly paired CableCard.
EXAMPLES:
NOT PAIRED PROPERLY
Con: Yes EBCP: Yes Val: ? 0x15
PAIRED PROPERLY
Con: Yes EBCP: Yes Val: V 0x0E
If Con = No then that means the CableCard is not activated
Compare to the following screen:
http://support.tivo.com/euf/assets/files/Moto_MCARD_pairing_cp.pdf
Call Cox at 1-877-820-8202, ask them to remove and rebuild the CableCARD and Tuning Adapter on your account,

Thank you very much bryaninphx, my conditional page shows the following:
Conditional Access
UnitAddress: 000-00832-35268-058
Encryption: DES
EMM CSN: 0xA5/A6 unknown
Con: Yes EBCP: Yes Val: V 0x1A
If I understand the PDF correctly, the "V" indicates a good pairing?

Yes it does appear to be Validated, perhaps the Tuning Adapter is not properly tied to your account, I would still call the number above and ask to have everything rebuilt from scratch.
While you are at it, will you check your Tuning Adapter Firmware version and chime in at the following thread:
http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/tv_forum/f/4/t/4630.aspx
You both are located on the same system in New England (CT)

Tech has been here for nearly an hour and a half. he says "from [his] perspective, everything is fine. it must be a problem with [my] software.". except, the problem is between the CableCARD and the TA and none of this has even reached my PC yet. I think he's confused about that fact since i'm looking at the logs via the web browser connecting to the devices. <sigh>
He's gone to get a replacement TA and CableCARD . But my gut tells that they are fine and it's simply a configuration issue somewhere ... perhaps the "hits" COX sent to activeate things didn't *all* come thru? So the CableCARD is activated and validated, but only shows the TV Starter package? I don't know. But I really don't think either the CableCARD nor the TA are broken. :(

Thank you Tiffany.
He replaced the TA ... no observable difference. He replaced the original CC with a new one and whomever he was talking with "in the office" said it was reporting errors immediately. So he replaced it with a 3rd CC. No errors. But also, no more channels than what appears to be basically the TV Starter package (and I actually have Advanced TV + Bonus Pak + Sports & Information Pak ... and they all show up on my regular STB).
While doing all this testing, I was able to find a page in the HDHRPrime's web "site" to watch the tuners during the channel detection and discovered that the missing channels are coming thru the CC as "not-subscribed". The Tech, who was a very polite young man, said that after replacing the equipment & verifying the line levels, there's nothing more he can do. And I can't really fault him for that.
So ... Is there anything you can do from your end?
Thank you for listening to my whining. :)

I'll reach out to them, but am I correct in understanding that you believe the CabelCARD showing "not-subscribed" for most channels and the error messages below really means a problem with the HDHRPrime and not the CableCARD?

Pat,
Not at all! We wouldn't be able to determine if there were an issue with the TiVo (edit) HD HomeRun Prime . Our support of the HD HomeRun Prime itself is limited and we want to be sure all bases are covered in regards to the equipment. I'd like to double check the setup of the card and TA, however I'd need to verify the Host ID and Data ID on your new card.
If you could email it to cox.help@cox.com I'll get started on it. Include the serial numbers of the cable card and the tuning adapter, your account information and a reference to this thread.

Thank you Colleen, the email has been sent. I've also submitted a query to SiliconDust (manufacturer of the HDHomeRun Prime which *IS* on COX's list of recognized devices) as requested by Tiffany.

Thank you for your email. We can continue to correspond here or there, whichever you prefer; just let me know. I'm removing and adding back the service on the cable card and tuning adapter to see if this helps. You should see the service deactivate and then restart. The tuning adapter should also reboot. Please let me know how things go.

This is as good as email as far as i'm concerned and who knows, we may discover something that'll help someone else later on. :)
My supper is just about to come off the stove, I'll check the CC & TA as soon as i finish eating.
Thank you VERY much!

Pat,
Enjoy your meal :) All provisioning and activation went through successfully from this end. Please make sure to scan for a new channel list and that your cable card validation has been successful. If you need instructions on how to perform these steps you can find them here.

Colleen, Thank you, was a tasty supper.
When I looked at the CabelCARD status after finishing eating, it was showing as Authenticated, Validation Needed. I pulled the plug to force a cold boot and after it came back up, the same issue. HOWEVER!! Just for ha ha's, I did a Channel Scan and all of the missing channels are showing up AND I CAN TUNE THEM!!! None of the premium channels or other channels that I don't subscribe to appear in the channel list. The first log segment shows some post scan tests. Below that is the top of the log showing the card isn't VALIDATED. So I'm not sure what's going on? I can't get to channels I'm not subscribed to (this is good), I CAN get to the channels I am paying for (this is also good), but the CC says it's not VALIDATED? And the Conditional Access menu appears to confirm that?
Any thoughts?
