Is anyone seeing double the internet speeds yet?

Is anyone seeing double the internet speeds yet? I received an email yesterday that they doubled my speeds and I don't have to do anything. I have the premier service which is 50mb down and I am only able to get 48-61 down. I have a Cisco Docsis 3.0 modem and my router is a Gigabit router. Is this something that will kick in on my next billing cycle? I was receiving up to mid 60's down prior to the announcement and email.

I received the upgrade a couple weeks ago now, but my Router does not have Gigabit ports so I only get that speed when I take it out of my connection and use the modem only.

What is the max speed your are seeing when connected to your computer directly?  Are you a premeir sucbscriber?

Yes, Premier - When I took out my router I was getting between 115 and 130Mbps on both the Cox speedtest and Speedtest.net on a Wired connection.

With my router connected I get 85-87Mbps

On Aug 4 I received my "Double the Speed is Here" email.

However, my download speed remained the same as before, and my upload speed decreased from apx 20 Mbps to 5 Mbps.

Premier Internet Service
Modem: Motorola SB6120
Router: Linksys WRT54GL

Haven't had time to do any troubleshooting.

Mark, Wikipedia says your router came out almost 10 years ago... I would try removing the router from your connection and testing your speed wired directly to the modem.

Thanks Chris, I'll give that a try when time allows.

Got the email yesterday and was seeing 115-120 with Premiere.  Since I was perfectly happy with the previous speed I called them up and downgraded to Preferred, saving $11/month.

My wireless router is definitely slowing down my internet; I get 33 Mbps when connected to the router, but 95 when connected directly to the computer.

Sounds like it's time to update it then ;)

My wife who is the primary on our Cox account saw this email about double internet speeds and ran out to the local big box retailer (BestBuy) to get the latest and greatest combination cable modem/wireless router and was sorely dissapointed when the resulting throughput was about 3 Mpbs Download and 2 Mpbs upload after calling Cox and activating the newest DOCSIS 3.0 5 GHz Motorola  SURFboard extreme modem/wireless router.  Cox said that we weren't even getting internet through them, must be somebody else, even though we've been with Cox for 15+ years, even with the old dial-up cable modem.  I was able to connect at 32 Mpbs (below advertised 50 Mps), but she was only able to get 3 Mps with her old PC through the new modem but could still get 17 Mps through the 14 yr-old modem.  My Obama-phone (former Crack-berry-fiend) friend told me could be a case of -G vs. -N wireless router or something like that, but never seen 50 Mpbs, even in low times with hard-wired ethernet.  Cox said they would look into it, and we could revert to 14-year-old modem in the mean time.  Old modem is "***-on-a-bull", "hooves-skyward", but the new modem seems to still work, despite Cox's guidance.  Cox tech support admits something is hosed on their end for multiple issues and they need to send someone in our area (3-5 PM tomorrow) to see what is going on.  Saw two ladder-hook Cox vans within tennis-ball throwing distance on my way home tonight, and saw numerous posts on Cox discussion forum wondering what the *** happened in Scottsdale over the last few days (since last non-Haboob monsoon).  Their first line of defense tech. support doesn't seem to have any clue, and I expect they won't be able to do anything for us.

4# anything would be cool. Paying for 50, but getting 3.
