Is Advanced TV necessary to use a Cablecard?
I currently have Advanced TV via a Cablecard and High Speed Internet Essential. I would like to downgrade my TV to "Essential", and my Internet to "Starter" (it's weird that I can't find the Internet Starter package on their website, I only found out about it by their press release mentioning the upgrading Internet speeds in Arizona). If I downgrade to TV Essential, will my Cablecard still work as it is doing now? Or do you need Advanced TV for a cablecard to work?

Advanced TV is needed for Essential. It adds $3/mo to your bill. Essential TV requires a Digital device and a 2-way receiver for SDV channles (a Tuning Adapter in your case), The only way currently to have Essential w/o Advanced TV would be to have no Digital receivers, but then you would be missing all the Essential channels that are SDV and Phoenix has many also all the HD Cable Channels,
Other options for using a CableCARD are:
Starter TV - Mostly just the Locals - $23.99/mo
Economy TV - Starter, plus several cable Channels - $38.99/mo

Internet Starter is $29.99 per month, or $26.99 per month when bundled, for 5 Mbps / 1 Mbps w/ a 50GB/mo cap

Thanks. I didn't realize Advanced TV only added $3 to your bill, I thought it was more like $30!
I'm trying to get my bill as low as possible and all I want for TV are all the network stations in HD, plus the major cable HD channels, like TNT, USA, AMC, FX, FXX, TLC, etc, so basically what's listed in their Essential TV column. My TV bill currently looks like this:
TV
Cox Advanced TV
Includes: Cox TV Starter
Expanded Service
Faith & Values Pak
Advanced TV Service
$73.99
- Movie Pak $10.00
CableCARD 2.00
Other Fees and Surcharges Broadcast Surcharge $3.00
Total TV $88.99
I don't think I need the Faith & Values pak or the Movie Pak, so that would save me some money by getting rid of those, right?
I'm paying $48.99 for Internet right now so $29.99 would be a huge savings.

If you are currently receiving a Bundle Discount, You will lose it by dropping any service level.
The Faith & Values Pak is free, w/ Starter TV - so no savings or dropping with that.
You could drop the Movie Pak, but you would loose the Bonus Pak which is free w/ one paid Pak. (Some very old accounts may still receive the Bonus Pak w/o any other Pak, as it used to be free with all Digital services)
Bonus Pak:
100 OWN
101 Discovery Family Channel
102 Science
103 Destination America
105 American Heroes Channel
106 Nick Jr.
305/377 MLB Network
318 Discovery Fit & Health
1100 OWN HD
1101 Discovery Family Channel HD
1102 Science HD
1103 Destination America HD
1106 Nick Jr HD
1305/1377 MLB Network HD
Economy TV has all the channels you listed except for TLC
All Locals - Plus:
23 Discovery Channel
24 Lifetime
26 TNT
27 FX
28 USA Network
35 Disney Channel
36 CNN
37 Nickelodeon
43 AMC
45 truTV
46 Food Network
47 FOX News Channel
50 SyFy
51 Comedy Central
52 E!
53 Cartoon Network
54 WGN
55 Galavisión
57 Animal Planet

1055 Galavisión HD
1057 Animal Planet HD
1058 TV Land HD
1059 BET HD
1061 HISTORY HD
1063 msnbc HD
1067 FXX HD
1070 The Weather Channel HD
1071 TCM HD
1072 National Geographic HD
1901-1950 Music Choice HD
Starter Internet is only 5 Mbps down, Streaming HD Quality video requires more like 12 Mbps, You may get 720p w/ 5 Mbps, but I doubt you will get 1080p. If you are streaming Internet Video, 50GB/mo is only about 15 Hour of HD Video per month.

Thanks for reaching out to us through the Cox Forums! As Bryaninphx mentioned; if you have a bundle discount or any type of campaign promo on your account, you may lose the discount by making changes to your services. Answering that question might be the best place to start.
It might be best to speak to an Account Specialist at 866-206-9832. They are available 8:00am- 8:00pm, Monday - Friday, and 9:00am-6:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
