Introducing Contour, the new personal video experience

Cox is introducing a new, personal TV experience - Contour. Contour is TV that perfectly fits you, at home and on the go. It includes the new Contour app for iPad with an intuitive interface that serves up content to watch at home or anywhere. On TV you'll experience the Contour guide, that learns the shows you like and recommends new shows you're likely to love. Contour also offers the Record 6 DVR that lets you record up to six shows at one time, and store 1000. Contour is the personalized TV experience you've been waiting for. Learn more at cox.com/contour or stop by a Cox Solutions Store today.

Is Cox thinking of adding a feature to watch shows on the DVR through the iPad?

Will it be possible to use this new Contour service on Motorola equipment, and if not will people be able to rent just one box? I only have 1 TV so whole home was never a interest to me, but a 6 tuner DVR is.

Currently the Contour app has a "push to TV" function, but not vice versa. Streaming or syncing from a DVR to an iPad won't be available in 2013. However, it is one of the features being investigated for future releases. Stay tuned, as we will add more and more programming to the Contour experience over time.

Many of the advanced features of the Contour app will not be available unless you have the Record 6 DVR that is part of the whole Contour package. Without the Record 6 DVR, the app is similar to the Cox TV Connect app that precedes it.
However, you can get the Record 6 DVR as a standalone unit. I only have one TV myself, and I've been holding off on upgrading knowing this was coming.

Tried out the Contour app last night. Works great on the iPad, but had no success getting the 'push to tv' function to work. I do have a Record 6 tuner, but noticed that the guide on it does not say Contour in the lower left corner as your videos say it should. Is this a feature that hasn't rolled out to San Diego yet?

We actually had some trouble with the push to TV feature at launch time but this should be operating normally as of this afternoon. Sorry for the delay!

However, we are still waiting on a minor software update to change the guide logo to Contour. That doesn't affect functionality, so customers shouldn't be too concerned about it.

Currently Contour equipment is not available for new self-installations in any area. In Oklahoma only, customers with existing Contour (formerly Trio) 2-tuner DVRs may swap them for Record 6 DVRs at a Solutions Store but customers with Rovi equipment or no equipment will still need a professional installation.

Jeez, you'd think a cable company could have a little more universal rules throughout the different markets. So OK gets to swap their old WHDVR to the Record 6 tuner for free and self-install, but San Diego has to set up an appointment AND pay $ for the professional install?

Just OK for the moment, yes. Then Kansas/Arkansas and Omaha/Iowa on 8/14. (Postponed, no ETA.) I don't have any scheduled dates for launching Contour self-swaps anywhere else yet, but staggered rollouts seem to be a trend now.

I currently have the 6 tuner DVR, is there anything I need to do to update to Contour?

If so does it have any different cost?

If you got the Record 6 DVR during the "soft launch" before 8/5, then nothing changes on your account, and you already had all the features except the Contour iPad app.

Will it be able to be mailed to me for self installation if you already have the whole home DVR. like a box swap if you may. The MoCa connectors are already in place.

Self-swaps are currently available for customers with existing 2-tuner Contour (formerly Trio) DVRs in Oklahoma, will be available in the Central Regions (Omaha-Iowa and Kansas-Arkansas) on 8/14 (postponed, no ETA), and may be expanded eventually, but customers in other regions and customers with non-Contour equipment or no equipment will need a professional installation or upgrade.

The logo change will be a minor software update that rolls out progressively across the various markets from 8/14 to 8/21.
I'm not sure what you mean by the picture swap thing, though.

I Just Had the Contour Service installed today. Got the New Record 6 DVR and 2 client Boxes. I also have Preferred Internet. However, I do not get the Option to watch live TV through the APP!!!!

I called Cust. Support and the lady wasn't able to resolve. What do I need to do to get this Fixed? BTW I also Tried using the Cox TV Connect and when I go to Live TV it tells me my Services do not include access to the Live TV. Yet according to the Requirements I have everything I need to watch Live TV.

SO Far I have to rate this Whole thing as an Epic Fail.

The Live TV function of both programs are both tied to one service code that needs to be added to identify an account when it has both TV Essential and Preferred High-Speed Internet, which your account was missing but I've corrected.
You should be good to go if you try it again, though you may need to sign out of the app completely and sign back in again first. If it still gives you trouble, please email us at cox.help@cox.com.
