Internet Speed - Not what it was when first installed
I have the 150mbps internet and when the technician was here installing, I was getting 130 - 175 mbps. Now, i can't seem to get over 35 - 40 when using speedtest.net. This is the same site the technician was using to test the connection speed so I'm assuming it is accurate. When I go to the cox website and test my speed there, it consistently shows 170+. Not sure whey the difference since they seem to be using the same servers.
I have tried the test and different times of the day, have reset the router and my wireless. I am getting these speeds when connected directly and not using wireless.

Have you tried different test sites on speedtest.net? Your result can vary wildly depending on the site. I am in CT on the Preferred (50Mbps) plan and did some testing this AM:
New York - 60Mbps
Hartford - 60Mbps
LA - 55Mbps
Atlanta - 50Mbps
Tampa - 25Mbps
Cocoa, FL - 58Mbps
I repeated the Tampa FL test 5 times and the 25Mbps was the best I could get ... I got as low as 11Mbps to the same server. I don't know what server Cox is using for their speedtest but I know tests on Ookla's site can vary depending on site. It's not distance as LA proved faster than Tampa even though it's more than twice as far. I find the NYC site hosted by Towerstream a mostly reliable test site. Last test gave me 19ms ping, 60.16Mbps down and 6.7Mbps up, at the top of Cox advertised speeds.
BTW, this testing was done from a laptop connected via 5GHz "ac" WiFi, not hard wired. It shows a properly configured high speed WiFi network can get at least "Preferred" speeds.
