Internet Speed is Capped

So it appears that my internet speed has been capped again. I get no more than 30mb download speeds, but pay for 100mb. This has happened before and one of the forum techs did something to get us uncapped. Would appreciate the help again.

Cheers.

Just spoke with phone support who did the usual "send a reset signal" and that's actually now lowered my speed to 10mb. Any help is appreciated.

@Irelad

I check from here and your account is setup correctly for 100Mbps service.  Do you see these problems from the wired devices as well?

I just checked both wired and wireless get no higher than 30mb. I even just bought a new cable modem on the advise of Cox support on the phone. Still no higher than 30mb.

Can someone please check my account config file. Everything I'm seeing points to it being coded wrong at 32MB vs the 100MB I'm paying for.

Hi Irelad,

The modem is configured correctly. I'd like to clear the ARP cache and then refresh the modem. Is there an okay time to do that?

Thanks. The modem is back up and running. At your convenience, please run another hardwired test to the modem and let us know the results.

Thank you,

Thanks Nicole. Still the same. Tech came out, checked the lines and said the signal was excellent. Still only getting 30mb down. Service tech said there was nothing else he could do (which was disappointing). He even said the lady who he talked to told him "even if you pay for 100mb, you're not getting that all the time, so there's nothing else I can do". But I shouldn't be max'ing out at 30MB every time. From what I've read this used to be the limit of the old DOCSIS 2.0 modems. Is there anyway there are lingering codes in my account for that?

@Irelad

It's definitely not a service code issue as how the modem is provisioned for the correct speed.  This looks more like wireless-G is being used or perhaps WPA-TKIP authentication.  Can you try testing with a PC connected directly to the modem again?

The service tech came back last night to check one more thing. He removed a video tap in the Cox box in our garage. The minute he took that off, we burst to 120MB download and routinely hold 100MB. He said he's seen that once before where that video tap degrades the signal enough to cause problems.

Thanks for the help in trying to chase it down.
