Whatever upgrades were done in OC last week they really seem to be causing problems. I have had at least 3-4 full outages this weekend (10-15 min each) and YouTube streaming through Cox is still problematic. Each time I've isolated the problem using TraceRt back to Cox (not my cable modem and not my router/equip).
On the YouTube issue, I understand from other forums that Cox is caching Google content separately. This is causing a real headache. YouTube streams fine through my Verizon MiFi and even streams fine over my Cox internet connection when I VPN into my company, but using Cox's DNS and native network it has been a problem all weekend. Whatever you are doing to cache locally you should stop and just allow traffic to go directly to Googles native servers.

Its not quite that easy. The cached servers arent just for performance reasons but for profit reasons too. Basically these CDN turns an internet long distance call into a local call. Any bandwidth which can be kept local is bandwidth they don't have to pay to go across backbones. Now most ISP (including Cox) are trying hold Google hostage by not raising the bandwidth caps between local CDN and Cox customers.

Hi BeachCox,
We have been having issues with YouTube as of late with buffering, and not streaming the way it should. If you could provide the trace route results we can take a look at that and it will assist with our investigation of the issue. Please email that information to cox.help@cox.com.
