Internet drops frequently

My internet is really slow and often cuts off, im talking like a few times a day.  Ill be in the middle of gaming and ill get dropped, ill be browsing the web and get cut off, ill even often not be online and ill see my modem lights go off then go back on.  Sometimes it takes a while for it to go back on, sometimes its immediate.  I have high speed and paid extra for the "boost" yet see no improvements.  Im paying way too much to be dealing with this problem.  Ive switched modems, to no avail.  Im using a motorola modem.  What are my speeds supposed to be?
