A couple of issues, for approximately one week, my service has been hit or miss. At first I thought it was because of the change in speeds, so I bought a new Motorola SB6141. Called Cox, had it set up, but after the setup was finished, same problem exists. So I think, "ok maybe it's my router." So I purchased a new NetGear AC3200 today, set it up... strongest signal I've ever had, but still intermittent service. I did call tech support, and someone will be out Monday, but was wondering if there is some sort issue in my "neck of the woods." NW Phoenix, Happy Valley Rd area.
Also, I got an email today saying I had an overage on my usage. When I looked at the meter, it said I used 78 GB yesterday. I couldn't use my internet yesterday because it was so hit or miss. No gaming, no netflix, no music.... your meter is wrong. We had little to no internet usage. We actually popped a DVD in the way back machine.
By the way, both techs I spoke to were super nice (one to set up the modem, the other for the intermittent service report).

Sounds like something on your network is using up bandwidth without your knowledge. Try bypassing your router for a day and connect direct Modem > PC for a day and see what the meter says then.

Go direct with the modem to computer. If it keeps up, doublecheck your computer for spyware. There are monitoring programs that will tell you what outgoing connections are happening, for Mac I'd recommend Little Snitch, for Windoze I'm not sure what people are using these days, I used to use ZoneAlarm when I built a lot of PC's for people.
