Apparently, this ninny has never heard of a call blocker.
Since 2011, my PhoneTray Free has blocked over 1000 calls. I welcome her call-backs and anemic profile on me.

I am sure she has heard of them, they just aren't common enough to effect her bottom line.

The article's author was a phone marketer but now works as a freelance writer.
One person ( on a spam fighting website) said that hitting the # sign repeatedly will tell the telemarketer's phone that your number is no longer in service. I tried this as soon as i picked up the phone. Didn't seem to work. Then i tried it after the person started talking. It seemed to work but they may have just hung up because the tone was irritating to listen to. EDIT: I just got a spam call and waited until the recording started..... then pressed # over and over. No help. The recording just kept going.
I bought the home phone that lets me block 250 numbers. I also pay for Cox' Selective Call Rejection but it only stops 29 numbers.... i filled that up in 3-4 days.

If she's giving advice, why not recommend a call blocker? Why recommend answering her calls and getting into mindless dialog?

Because she isn't looking to advertise a product, she is giving general advice based on her experiences. Some people want ways to decrease calls without spending any more money. I personally think telemarketer call centers should be closed down. Everybody hates them except the people profiting from them. FCC needs to grow some kahunas.

Like most federal agencies, they create rules but don't enforce them. Then they change the rules and still don't enforce them. You can't trust the FTC, FCC or Cox to help you. YOU have to eliminate the nuisance call.
My solution was free: unused laptop, PhoneTray Free and an RJ11 cable. Unless I have my TV on, I don't even know scammers are calling me. For example, until I reviewed my call log, I didn't know 855-402-0737 (800 Service) had called me 20 times since 19 Aug 15. What is that...once a day? I didn't know because I decide who can ring my phone.
Defeat thy enemy.
