For the past few weeks my internet connection keeps dropping. Have talked to Texh support multiple times, two different techs sent out, and the problem still occurs. It will work for a little bit, and then stop working for a while. From doing some reading it seems that it might be a firmware issue, but I was told by tech support that Cox doesn't update firmware for modems. Is this correct? I have a brand new Netgear C3700 in firmware 1.01.05.

When I look from this end I'm not getting any kind of response from the modem suggesting a signal or equipment problem. Are there any cable splitters you can try bypassing to see if that helps?

No splitters, the modem is connected straight from the wall. The first time I called tech support the internet wasn't working, and they couldn't find the modem as you described. The next time I called it was working and they said the modem looked fine. Both times they sent a technician to the house to check things out, and both times the problem remained.

It may be necessary to have somebody come out and take another look, sounds like something is getting missed. Have any of the technician tried setting up a known good modem to see if that worked better?

No they have just been messing around with the box outside. Whatever they do works for a little bit, but obviously isn't a permanent fix. I tried connecting my old modem to see if that would fix the problem, but kept having the same issue.

The modem dropping offline isn't something that can be remotely addressed unfortunately so somebody would have to come out if that problem continues. I can appreciate how difficult intermittent problems are to troubleshoot having been on the same end of a similar problem myself.
