IMAP email fails Inbox Check for new mail

My email will not sync to online account. The error I get is: Task '[Email address}: Folder:Inbox Check for new mail.' reported error (0x800CCC0E): 'Outlook cannot download folder Inbox from the IMAP e-mail server for account [Email address]. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' I did upgrade my modem yesterday to a SB6183 using the cox.net/activate website. I am not sure if any of my email accounts have worked since.

I guess the email server people must have looked at this because now my one email address that was still set to imap started receiving email again. The others got switched to POP while trying to get them working. So I lost my old email because IMAP users seem to use a different kind of outlook files than POP users so it would not let me connect to my old IMAP files. In any case, I think my email is back up and running again. Thanks for attempting to help:)

Hi Working from home,

I see that you're having some trouble with Outlook, are you able to get your email if you login to http://webmail.cox.net?  I would like to have you try that.  The error message you're getting suggests there is something not allowing the connection and typically it is a firewall or security software.

Sorry, could not figure out how to log back into forum...Kept getting prompted to create a new forum user again... Kept trying to remove outlook accounts and recreate them under both POP and IMAP. Called support and talked to level 1 and level 2 people on it. Level 2 person said it had to outlook and I should call Microsoft. This just started after I activated a new modem. So kept trying on my own. It started sort of working for one of my emails but now I am getting an error stating email server has reported an internal error. The server responded: 554 fed1rmimpo305 cox too many bad commands from 72.22 This makes me wonder if after activating my new modem, I got someone else's messed up IP address that the email server does not like...
