How Do I Block Numbers

How do I block numbers from unwanted callers?  My number is registered on the Do Not Call List and it has been since the beginning.  I have verified the registration and it is still active.  However, I am getting 10 to 15 calls per day so now I must block.  How do I do this.  I tried following the directions on line but they did not work.  Do I need to subscribe to this service through Cox?  Is there a charge for this service? Please advise.

Hi Lily2, are the calls you are receiving from telemarketers? If telemarketers continue to call you, you can report them to the FCC: http://1.usa.gov/1cknJh6  if you see the number calling you, you may also use calling features available to Cox Digital Telephone subscribers: http://bit.ly/1v1MU2j   I hope this information is helpful.

There is a monthly charge for the service thru Cox.  Apx $5 a month allows you to block apx 29 numbers.  Or you can buy one of the telephones that offers Call Blocking.  Some Panasonic phones ( i don't work for them or promote them) allow you to block 250 numbers. The newer ones block 300 numbers.  You can read the online reviews at big retailers like Amazon or Walmart to see which phones are right for you.  The cheapest ones cost $25 and block 60 numbers.

Most of the spammers are not actually calling from the number on your Caller ID.  They "spoof" the number since they are dialing from a computer which makes thousands of calls per hour.  I wait until i get a 2nd call from a number before entering it on my Call Block.

My phone line is supposed to be blocking numbers (two to be exact).  However, after about 3 weeks of having the numbers blocked, we received a call tonight from one of the numbers.  So we went through the steps to block numbers and yes, those two numbers are listed as being blocked.  Also, is it necessary to enter the area code when entering the number?  We tried doing that but was interrupted by the automated system.  Is it possible for one of the blocked numbers to reverse the system?

Hi Karen, remove the number from your list, then re-add it. Let us know if you are able to do so successfully.
