HDMI mini box installed unable to watch DVD's

Recently had to have someone come out and install the required HD mini box. I am now unable to watch DVD's or VHS tapes. Any suggestions on how everything should be connected at this point? I did not use the coax cables for older model TV's I used the HDMI cable. Can the HDMI cable and the coax be used at the same time to connect my DVD/VCR? Any help would be appreciated.

What DVD/VCR player do you have, what are it's outputs?  I would guess coax and composite video (yellow/red/white), maybe component but not HDMI, correct?

If my guess is correct and you have the minibox connected to the TV via HDMI, you can connect your DVD/VCR using one of it's outputs depending on what other inputs your TV has.  Like connect the coax from our DVD to TV and use the TV's input selector to select that when you want to watch a DVD.  Switch back to HDMI when you want to watch cable.  To do this, you will need the TV's remote, the remote that came with the minibox won't select TV inputs.

+1 What DVD/VCR do you have? Also, what TV do you have? Or at-least, what inputs are available on the back?

The DVD/VCR is a Samsung >10 years old with the yellow, red, white connects and is currently not connected to anything. TV is a Sanyo. See attached photo. Hopes this helps. I'm not too cable etc.. savvy so I will need very specific instructions on how to connect what to where. Thanks for your help!

I don't see an attached photo.  How was the DVD player connected before the minibox?  If the Sanyo TV has composite input, just connect the yellow, red, & white terminals with RCA cables.
