I bought a new router thinking it was the issue and I am still getting the same problem. I keep getting a connection error or dns error on our computers I have done the cmd reset for the ip config and well no luck. Any way the internet works on our tv just fine all day long it does lag watching netflix which is annoying BUT what can you do. When my husband comes home and tries to connect to the internet with his laptop in the kitchen it doesnt connect it give him errors or just sits there trying to load. If you open the door to the office or if he goes in the room it usually connects but most of the time we have to rest the router and modem. How can we fix this issue? I have had the same issue on my desktop and I am sitting right next to the router and modem? I do have another modem if thats the case I just dont know how to set it up? Also I am not getting the speeds I am paying for is there something I am not doing right? Help :)
Router : netgear n750 WNDR4300
Modem : cisco DPC3010

Sounds like you might be having more than 1 problem. 1 issue might be between the modem and Netgear router, or just with the Netgear router. That would explain why your wired connection is sometimes effected and gives the DNS error. 2nd issue is a wireless problem between some of your computers and the Netgear router. Thats why your wireless gets better when you open the door, your literally letting out more Wifi out the door and into your house. Imagine Wifi just like really high pitch sound, so it bounces around the rooms and between the rooms depending on how the rooms are shaped and what they are made of. This makes troubleshooting each wireless issue unique.
First issue Cox can certainly look at. Make sure the modem is maintaining a stable connection and you don't have any errors. But if the the problem is with the router, there isn't much Cox can do for you outside selling you a new one. As for the second problem, that is going to take some trial and error and tweaking of Netgear router. Where did you buy the Netgear router and who set it up?

For starters, if the TVs are connected and working it's likely there's nothing wrong with the connection but rather something going on with the computers. You could try disabling any Internet security programs installed for starters and seeing if the connection works that way. Rebooting your Windows PC's into safemodem w/networking might also be another useful step to try.
