gmail

I've set up a gmail account just in case cox email is down for much longer.  I am having trouble getting thunderbird to read its email to my pc, and wonder if anyone has any clues.  Sending email from thunderbird on the pc to the universe works fine.

I set thunderbird up the same way it is for cox email, except this:

incoming server: pop.gmail.com 995 for port.
outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com 587 for port.

I did see another place that used port 110 for incoming, but using that made no difference.  I can ping both gmail.com servers.
