Ghost lines

Once in awhile, i get ghost/wavy lines. It seems to happen a lot on channel 3 or 1003. When it happens on 3, 4 etc are fine w/o any lines. I have reset the DVR a few times. Any ideas?

I did a refresh again. 6 is having issue

I did chat with tech. powered off. seems to work now. but it worked last time for 1 day.

Hi jpmbcm,

I was able to locate your account and the signal to the DVR isn't quite where I'd like it. Please check that all the connections are tight from the wall to the box. Is the coax line a direction connection, or is there a splitter on the line?

Thank you,

Yesterday 1/3. I got the ghost lines back. This time the lines displayed on channel 3 and 1003. The other channels were fine. I then pulled the power to the DVR and pugged it back in after 5 mins. the lines went away.

Hi Jpmbcm,

If the cable signal getting to the receiver isn't as strong as it needs to be, lots of odd symptoms can occur. As you've discovered, resetting the cable box is only a temporary fix. Is there a splitter on the coax connection to the cable box?

No splitter. This problem just started happening. About 2 weeks. I am thinking there is something wrong with DVR box.

Yesterday, I had same problem 3/1003/6/1006 had the wavy lines. I then pulled the plug. After 10 mins, I turned it back on. When 3/1003/6/1006 was selected, it was a black picture. I then went to watch 1004 which was fine. Came back and then 3/1003/6/1006 worked. I dont think I have a signal problem because other channels work fine. All my connections are tight. No splinters except in basement I have a 6 way splinter that cox put in a long time ago for my cable connections.  I had a problem last year and the cox tech said all my connections were good and looked at that big splinter. If happens again. it has to be dvr box. any thoughts?

Hello jpmbcm,

It is true that the signals to your cable box are not to spec. However, they are not bad enough to cause loss of all channels. This will cause intermittent issues dealing with your channels. This will be more apparent during sever weather issues since that usually impacts the signal even more. At this point, I do not believe the issue is being caused by the box.

Thanks,
