Getting a second net

My family reaches 1T of data often, and some months exceed it by quite a bit. The $10 per 50gb is quite excessive. At double the data, 2T, you're spending triple the amount. That's ridiculous. It's literally cheaper for me to pick up a second internet. So that's my question. I only have one cable port, but would there be any way of connecting a second internet through it.

Yes, just get a splitter.

Why don't you get a business account instead? I don't think there are caps on a business line

The max speed I can find for business is 100mbps. That's not really a whole lot unfortunately.

But a splitter would allow me to have two separate internet services through it?

Wow what is your family's consumption like? 100 down is enough to support 4-5 4k netflix streams simultaneously.

Yes but to a point. You can split the line, however you may end up compromising your service if your RF signal is already on the edge (too low receives or too high transmits already). Post your RF signals at 192.168.100.1 and we can tell you if its okay to split the line

You can have more then one modem and service activated there, Cpljp is correct however if you are using a splitter at one outlet it may compromise the signal causing connectivity or speed issues if the upstream or downstream levels are out of range.

These?
As for our consumption. It's pretty high. We all do a lot of online gaming on top of streaming.
Our current net is 150mbps.
If it is possible it would end up being cheaper to have two nets rather then get the business as the 100 mbps is nearly $200

Honestly though. If you have any suggestions that could help. Four online gamers who play usually at the same time. That's the current consumption situation.

Channel Lock Status Modulation Channel ID Frequency Power SNR
1 Locked QAM256 1 813000000 Hz 5.0 dBmV 41.1 dB
2 Locked QAM256 2 819000000 Hz 5.4 dBmV 41.3 dB
3 Locked QAM256 3 825000000 Hz 5.6 dBmV 41.3 dB
4 Locked QAM256 4 831000000 Hz 5.8 dBmV 41.3 dB

Your downstream seems fine to split, but can we see your upstream as well? if your upstream power is under 43, I would say you are okay to split the line. Just make sure you use a good quality splitter such as Antronix, Commscope, or Extreme and use good cable that is at least try shield

It looks like it's all below 43. Would I just contact cox to set up a second net?
