Frequent loss of wireless speed...connectivity

We have a newer Cox Modem, a WD MyNet 600N router and one VOIP wireless phone.  We also have an ASUS portable wireless adapter to provide wireless connection to the VOIP phone.  Cox speed to the hardwired computer is excellent.  To the wireless computer, there is 50-80% fluctuating loss.  We can hear callers but they can't hear us or the reception is terrible.  The router is about 14 feet from the wireless computer and phone with a wall between.    Tech's have been out and can't find an issue inside but have fixed issues outside but it hasn't helped with stability.

I have been having the same thing for a month now, just didn't feel like dealing with sitting at home waiting for a tech to materialize.  At this rate, I may switch to an all cellular solution and stop being a customer after over 10 years.

To be clear it goes Modem > WD 600N router > 1 PC and wireless to Asus adapter hardwired > VOIP Phone correct? If so what kind of modem, adapter and VOIP phone do  you have?

Is the VOIP phone separate from the wireless computer you mentioned? Or do you mean Skype on a laptop? Also, can you explain "there is 50-80% fluctuating loss." could you share that data?

Sounds like a wireless issue between router and adapter. Do you notice if the what the wireless strength is in the room the adapter is in? Does it get stronger and weaker at different places in the room?

Modem > WD 600N router > 1 Hardwire and 1 Wireless PC and to Asus wireless adapter > VOIP.   Phone Linksys IP SPA 942

Adapter  ASUS WL-330eG    Cisco DPC3010.   VOIP phone is not connected to the PC.   The wireless PC Speedtest.net results at 12.43pm was 5.16 download and .13 upload.   Our level is suppose to be 150 download and 75 upload

It sounds like you're describing Ultimate Tier service which is 150Mbps dn/20Mbps up just to clarify any misunderstandings there.  To achieve those speeds you ideally don't want to be wireless if at all possible.  I'm not familiar with that particular model router however wireless speeds will vary greatly due to distance, sources of interference nearby, encryption level used, and other factors I'm probably not thinking of right now.

First thing I would do is check the Wireless mode of the WD600N router. Seems like your wireless speed is defaulting to Wifi G and at about 50% or less strength your going to see speeds of around 5Mbps down. By default its B/G/N, so if you have any wifi-B clients, it will drag the rest of your clients down. What makes it a pain is the setting isn't under normal settings like in most routers. You will find it Advanced Settings > Wireless > Wireless Settings > Network mode, or see page 36-37 of the manual.  I would suggest "802.11 g+n".

Next, I would try a speedtest on the wired connection off the router, to make sure the router itself isn't bottle-necking the speed.

If your wireless speed on PC becomes fast, but still have issues with the VOIP we can troubleshoot the Asus adapter but I would rather cross that bridge only if required.
