Forum down times

I suspect it is probably just Cox changing the coding of the forum, but over the last week or so I have been unable to access these forums for 30-60min about 5-6 times this week. The last time was about 2 hours ago. I am not so much complaining, just informing you for trending purposes incase you didn't know.

When the issue occurs, I try to load "forums.cox.com" direct from the address bar, and it doesn't even redirect to the /start format, giving me a hour glass. Multiple browsers, multiple computers. I can ping forums.cox.com but unable to make a connection on port 80 via Telnet. www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/‎ shows the site as up, so I think the server is online, just not operational. If more info is required, please give criteria. Thank you for your time.

Hello Trikein,

I have not heard of any other reports of this issue from customers or mods. Are you still having issues with connecting to our forums? If yes, What browser (including version) are you using? Are you using any add-ons? Have you tried clearing your cookies, cache? Have you tried disabling the security software or running in safemode?

We look forward in assisting you.

Thanks,

This happens about once every two weeks. Once one gets into the support area, the forums area won't open. A few hours later, all is well. Multiple browsers tried, including Firefox (ver 12?) Not a big deal.

Yea, multiple browsers/computers/OS/service locations. I agree its not a big deal at all, just stating it for tracking purposes. The next time it happens, what data would you like me to collect? Screenshots? Tracert? Telnet?

The issue described just occurred and is currently occurring. Took about 6 mins to get to this site, starting at 4:58PM EST to now, 5:04PM EST as I write this. Tried to access http://forums.cox.com from my laptop (Acer Windows 7 Pro) and my Desktop (Home built, Windows 7Pro ) and it just spinning. Multiple browsers, both Chrome Version 28.0.1500.95m and MSIE v 10.0.9200.16635. When attempting to access the site, I would get notification that the page was attempting to load, after a couple minuets the page turned the light blue background, but the page itself didn't load until a couple min after that. This was the same symptom on both computers, and it seems that both computers finally loaded the site at different times, so it was actually just extremely delayed. The problem fixed itself on both my laptop and Desktop by 5:16PM EST with no action on my part.  Here is some data.

Downforeveryoneorjustme.com showed it as up.

It's just you. http://forums.cox.com is up.

Then I did some tests on Pingdom.com

Telnet

Failed to connect at all, even after the website worked, so this is probably blocked.

Just happened again at 9:21PM EST but only for a minute or so. While attempting to respond to  a post I got a error overlay along the top of the screen:

"An error occurred while attempting to save this post."

Tiffany, any idea what might be causing this down time? I assume it could be general maintenance, unless you're thinking it's not?

No problem at all. Right now it happens rare enough that it is just a minor inconvenience. Thanks for looking into it for us.

I could not access the Forums today (8/21/2013) at 12:30pm PDT. I reset my modem and all was well.
