I have both high speed internet and TV service from Cox cable. I have two DVRs --> two TV sets, one upstairs, one downstairs. I have an office upstairs which has a jack for high speed internet from Cox with 2 connections. I have the internet hooked up on the top connection in the jack. If I get a small TV for that room, can I hook up to the jack directly with coax cable. If so, do I need to purchase a splitter and/or a filter? Sorry if this has been asked previously; I tried to search and then manually peruse the threads, but I could not find the same topic. It does seem like it would be a common question. Thanks!

Totally depends on what is wired to that bottom "jack", and how it was connected.

I'd like to clarify some information on your question. Do you mean that you have 2 cable outlets in this room, one above the other? If so, the ability to use the other jack would depend on if it is activated. You could quickly verify this by connecting your modem to the other jack and seeing if it syncs up. (If your modem is also providing phone service with your internet connection don't perform this test if the phone is in use.) If this second outlet is not active you can connect a TV in this room by using a splitter and additional cables, or you can have a technician scheduled to come activate the second outlet.

Thanks for the information Colleen!! I have been late getting out of work and won't probably trouble shoot this until next week, but now I have a logical sequence to use.
I appreciate it, very much!

Thanks for the reply, and sorry if my use of "jack" was technically incorrect or incomplete.

No problem! feel free to use the terms you're familiar with! When I first had typed my response I used the word "jack" more than once and changed them before I posted.
Stop back if you have any other questions. There are quite a few users in this forum who are most helpful and can actually assist with certain things that might be outside of the scope of normal support from Cox.
